Growing up in Connecticut, my Mom and Dad instilled in me early on a commitment to public service. With my father a retired judge and growing up in a large family, I learned quickly how to work collectively and compromise.
My education and career have been focused on developing a strong finance background, beginning as a graduate from Bucknell University and later receiving an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Upon moving to the Bay Area, I worked at US Leasing then at Bank of America Leasing and later GATX where I became the Chief Risk Officer and then the Senior Vice President of Air Operations for a $1.5 billion aviation business.
Shortly after moving to the Bay Area, I met my husband Charlie and got married. We wanted to settle in a community that could become a longtime home for our family. After looking around the Bay Area, Pleasant Hill stole our hearts. We moved here in 1998 and have lived here ever since.
After the birth of our son Will, I became even more impressed with just how involved our community is. Several years later, I was inspired to retire from my financial career and commit my time and energy to my family and to making my family’s chosen city the best place it could possibly be.
In 2008, I co-founded the Foundation for Pleasant Hill Education and currently serve as President. I served as the President of Strandwood Elementary PTA and Pleasant Hill Middle School PTSA, chaired the 2010 Measure C Bond Oversight Committee, served on Pleasant Hill Rotary, and coached numerous baseball and soccer teams for my son and his classmates.
As a Councilmember, I have had an opportunity to participate in many regional and local organizations. I sit on the County Connection board of directors, Transpac, our regional transportation planning organization, CCTA (Contra Costa Transportation) board, and on the Innovate 680 policy advisory committee. My Pleasant Hill City activities include the budget committee, the Library subcommittee and the General Plan update subcommittee.
Pleasant Hill is more than just a city to my family. It is our home, where we were welcomed with open arms. I want to continue to give back by serving a third term on our City Council. I would be honored to have your vote.
